Historic Home
Dallas, Texas
Lovingly restored and updated...
Built in 1914, and located in the Swiss Avenue Historical District of Dallas, a street comprised of protected historical homes. All exterior changes must be approved by the Landmark Commission.
As part of the remodel and restoration, the home was re-plumbed, re-wired, walls were re-plastered, original oak floors sanded and refinished, new stucco and paint, and updated to accommodate today's lifestyles. Original moldings, baseboards, doors and windows were

salvaged to be used in the restoration.
I consider it a great privilege to have been involved in this 2 year project at every level - from beginning to end - including color, furniture, lighting, appliances, art and accessory selection. It was quite a pleasure to work alongside so many fine contractors who made this happen.
Not only was this an incredible and rewarding project, it was also my own personal home for several years.

A fourth bedroom redesigned to be the primary bath. Herbeau fixtures. Custom slipper chairs. Kohler tub. Crate and Barrel sideboard converted to a double sink vanity. 18th century French bonnetiere for added storage. Botticino marble floors.

The extensive modernization of the kitchen, breakfast area, and butler's pantry included a replication of the original arched doorway in the front entry. Pella doors. Subzero and Viking appliances. Marble floors. Granite countertops.

In order to accommodate the owners' love of time spent outdoors, extensive hardscape and landscape additions were made, including a pool and cabana, designed to appear as if that which might have been built in the era of the homes' construction. Modernized, of course!
Furniture by West Elm and Pottery Barn. Outdoor BBQ and ventilation by Viking. Limestone walls. Patterned concrete floors.

Re-inventing and Re-defining...

Begun with with a blank palette. Exterior landscaping where I consulted with the landscape designers, and made plant, and hardscape selections And supervised installation. I also made personal selections of fountains and furniture. Interiors, where I selected paint colors, furniture, lighting, accessories, and art and placed all.

Landscape well suited for this Houston home, one reminiscent of New Orleans. Includes mini- mondo grass among concrete pavers. And, a custom designed "safe" play area for the owners' grand children.

New build
Relocation and Downsizing...
A beautiful new home in a 55 + community, and one where the owner made lovely selections for floor plan, flooring, cabinetry, paint, counter tops, and appliances. I was contracted to help with pre-moving choices for what to leave and what to keep - based on measurements and client preferences. And to help on sight with focus on unpacking, furniture, accessory, and art placement, and to recommend purchases of new furniture, bedding and rugs as needed - combining cherished old with new.

An ideal space - whether working from home , managing daily tasks, or reading a good book! And a wonderful spot for accommodating guests on this great day bed from Pottery Barn. I consolidated the owner's love of Thomas Kincaid art in one location. The beautiful desk/armoire is from family. C-table from Wisteria. and desk chair from Wayfair. All rugs throughout the home are from Surya.

A guest room using more "found" art, and the clients linens at her request. A restful place for visitors...

A living area well suited to the client who loves to entertain family and friends. And a space using her own art, furniture, and accessories. It was only a matter of placement, hanging art, and adding area rugs - all from Surya.
Georgetown, TX Residence

A restful primary bedroom, using the clients art, lamps, and furniture, yet with new mirrored night table, linens, rug, and settee.
And the bath decorated with "found" accessories and art that resonates with the client. Paintings reminiscent of time spent growing up in Rhode Island, and a precious framed painting from her grandson.

An inviting guest bath using the clients preferred art and accessories. It's in the smallest details and placement.
